Thomson Racal reorganises UK activity
Article Abstract:
Thomson-CSF Racal, a defense electronics company to be formed through the merger of Thomson-CSF of France and Racal Electronics of the UK, has started the reorganization of its UK operation to be called Thomson Racal Defence. Former Racal Electronics head Richard Moon will become the CEO of Bracknell, UK-based Thomson Racal. The UK operation will be the second largest defense company in the country, while its parent Thomson-CSF Racal will the fifth in the world.

Newport News and Avondale I
Article Abstract:
Newport News Shipbuilding merged with Avondale Industries to form a new company called Newport News Avondale Industries. The deal worth $470 mil combines two shipbuilding firms that offer naval maintenance services and have the capability to design and construct naval and merchant ships. The newly merged company will have 24,000 employees and has current contracts from the navy for ship construction worth $6 bil.
