Why Clausewitz had it backward
Article Abstract:
The Prussian military philosopher Carl von Clausewitz's dictum that 'war is simply a continuation of policy with other means' was although superficially true for European world, it never applied to the American people. However, it is 'policy is simply a continuation of war with other means' as competition between governments, cultures, civilizations and religions is comprehensive and unceasing and it is waged instinctively or consciously with all the available elements of power.

Lessons from Lebanon

The political complexity in Lebanon and the greater Middle East is such that it is not possible to predict whether Hezbollah will become ever stronger and more influential. The US can make use of the model of the impressively innovative military force, incisively tailored by Hezbollah to meet a specific foe on particular terrain, as a prototype to develop an effective 21st- century terrorist army.

Clausewitz and World War IV
Article Abstract:
The 19th-century Prussian writer Carl von Clausewitz is considered as a prophet whose views on the character and nature of war have held up best over the past two centuries. Alan Beyerchen, distinguished historian at Ohio State University choose to embrace rather than replace Clausewitzian theory and has developed a taxonomy of war in the modern era in terms of four world wars.
