Unique, head-turning automobiles were on display at the 2000 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI. Corbin Motors of Hollister, CA, unveiled two sleek models that can accommodate only one person. The Jeep Cherokee Total Exposure concept vehicle features a standup photographer's platform that should appeal to outdoor lovers. Chevrolet brought along its Chevy Venture Warner Bros Edition minivan, which features a Lgo Playseat with a Lego play surface.

Car sales surprisingly strong

Automobile sales for Mar 2001, were surprisingly stronger than expected and the annual sales pace is running near the previous year's record 17.4 milion vehicles. This, despite sharp declines at Ford Motor, Chrysler, and General Motors whose sales went down by 12.6%, 9.2% and 4.8%, respectively. Industry analysts are cautious about 2nd qtr 2001 and warned that automakers are priming the pump with big cash rebates adn cheap loan and lease deals.

Year 2000 model cars offer consumers an array of driver-friendly functions and an impressive host of after-market gadgets. Leading the new features is a combination gasoline engine and electric motor, or a hybrid. Hybrid cars are being offered by Honda and Toyota. Other notable features are navigation systems, smart cruise control, night vision, power door locks and power outlets.
