The voters of Denmark dealt European unity a severe blow when they rejected the Maastricht Treaty on Jun 2, 1992. The treaty would have created a single European currency, and brought European Community (EC) countries closer together. The vote underscored the rift between EC politicians and voters.

Microsoft and Apple have been bitter rivals for two decades, but in a surprise move, Apple head Steve Jobs announced that Microsoft paid $205 million for a 5% stake in Apple. In return, Apple will drop its legal claims against Microsoft. Ramifications of the agreement are discussed.
