Apple technologists forming new venture
Article Abstract:
Bill Atkinson and Marc Porat, both high ranking researchers for Apple, will be leaving the company to join another former Apple employee Andy Hertzfeld, and the three will form General Magic Inc. Apple will hold a minority interest in the new firm, and Apple's chief executive John Sculley will hold a seat on the board. The new firm will manufacture 'personal intelligent communicators', which are believed to be handheld devices that store appointments and information, and can transmit information either over phone lines, or through the air. The three have left Apple because the product falls outside of Apple's main product line.
