B.C. mining firms pin hopes on Liberals
Article Abstract:
The mining companies of British Columbia (B.C.) are relying on the Liberals to help them recapture their fortunes after another year of losses and record low spending on mineral exploration. According to a study, the B.C. mining industry would have posted a loss of $248-million in 2000 if it were not for $163-million in additional power-sales revenue from Cominco Ltd.'s Trail smelter.
