Compaq stock, ratings sink in wake of profit warning

Compaq Computer Corp has reported that its profits for the 1st qtr 1999 will fall by 50% below securities analysts projections. The company said that earnings per share would be 15 cents, sharply lower from the forecasts of 31 cents. Compaq Computers also said the revenues would be $9.4 billion, compared to the analysts' projection of $9.4 billion. Compaq shares closed at $24.06 on Apr 12, 1999, down by $6.88 or 22%.
