Article Abstract:
The $7m National Musculoskeletal Medicine Initiative, which began in 1997 and ran for three years under Newcastle University's professor, Nikolai Bogduk, looked at how evidence-based care compared with traditional, general practitioner (GP)-based care. Bogduk also authored a report, but it was not released, allegedly stalled by the efforts of very powerful lobby groups of chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists, keen on maintaining their hold over patients with musculo-skeletal pain.
