The fact that AMP has not disclosed any information about its demerger to its investors, they are confused as to what do next but it is suggested that shareholders must be well-informed about their investments. It is expected that in the year 2003, Howard Davies, chairman of the United Kingdom's Financial Services Authority, will approve the demerger of AMP Ltd. and its financially stressed UK life company subsidiaries.

The bankers are full aware of the fact that this would not go for long and have taken needed precautions like creating 'loan-to-valuation' lending criteria and mortgage insurance for borrowers who have less than 20% equity.
