British Prime Minister Tony Blair was in Australia for the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony where he met Australian Prime Minister John Howard. Blair has already announced that he would step down before next election and has also anointed his successor in Gordon Brown while in Australia there is speculation that Peter Costello would succeed Prime Minister John Howard.

On his own show, Howard gets all the laughs
Article Abstract:
John Howard has put aside personal leadership consideration and focussed on competence in choosing his new cabinet. There were speculations that he would try to limit treasurer Tony costello's authority but that has not happened. A government that performs well will bring Howard credit and he has put aside other considerations to create a balanced government.

Australia's Prime Minister John Howard believes after Labor's defeat in the Aston by-election in 2001 that he can win the next federal election. Howard needs to persuade his party and the coalition whose attitudes remain defeatist.
