Article Abstract:
Rising rates affect bank profits, raise borrowing costs for utilities, and make the shares of both less attractive, as the dividend are not as satisfactory as compared with a risk-free term deposit. Since January 2004, Bank of Montreal is down by 13 percent, Enbridge Inc. by 9 percent since mid-March 2004, while RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust is off 15 percent since early March 2004.ftr
