Business book store turns new page

Albert Britnell Book Shop is selling its special orders division to independent Books for Business for undisclosed terms. The special orders business of both companies will be reorganized into Britnell Book Wholesalers, which gives Books for Business an additional 11,000 titles. The acquisition expands the independent book shop's size and topic coverage and boosts plans to increase North American market share.

The Catch-22 of working with Chapters
Article Abstract:
Toronto, Ont.-based Chapters Inc., which is Canada's largest book store chain, has come under fire from book publishers and distributors for returning large numbers of unsold books and not paying its bills in a timely manner. Chapters, which has reported weak profits, has about a 23% market share of Canada's consumer book sector.
