Article Abstract:
The current downturn in the technology industry occurred with unprecedented speed, leaving many industry leaders who were rapidly expanding less than a year ago now sharply retracting. This can be seen in inventory-to-sales data, plant closings, and layoffs. The bloated inventories indicate predictions that electronic commerce would fundamentally alter the nature of supply chain management were not accurate.

Seeking privacy online, even as security tightens
Article Abstract:
Many computer programs are available to help Internet users protect the privacy of their data and communications. Executive Rick Parker goes to great lengths to protect his online privacy. Some of the popular software he uses can help consumers control or limit computer files known as cookies, block pop-up ads, encrypt mail or data, let users roam the Internet anonymously, and see when outsiders are trying to hack their systems. Also useful are Web sites with information on privacy and how to protect it.
