CGI buys DRT, doubles U.S. presence

Computer services provider CGI Group Inc of Montreal has acquired DRT Systems International from Deloitte Consulting for around $40 million-$70 million. DRT Systems operates in 16 American cities and sources 80% of its revenue from the US. CGI, which has increased US revenue to 18% of total revenue from 9% as result of the acquisition, has also announced that it is planning to buy an American company with annual sales of $100 million-$500 million.

JDS Uniphase snags Epitaxx to boost fibre-optics might
Article Abstract:
Canadian fiber optics giant JDS Uniphase Corp will acquire Epitaxx Inc for $400 million in an all-stock deal. Both firms manufacture components for fiber optics networks which are becoming the dominant mode among high- speed telecommunications networks. Epitaxx specializes in optical detectors and receivers. JDS share prices increased $13 or 7.6% to $183 on the Toronto Stock Exchange on Oct 4, 1999.
