CN gets U.S. approval to buy railway
Article Abstract:
Canadian National Railway Co's proposed $2.4-billion acquisition of Illinois Central Corp has been approved by the Surface Transporation Board (STB). The merger would create a 30,000-km system connecting the Atlantic and Pacific coasts to the Gulf of Mexico. STB said that the deal would generate more than $100 million in public benefits annually, and would result in a highly efficient railway system that spans the entire US and the Canadian border to the Gulf.
