CN steams ahead with 34% profit gain in second quarter

Canadian National Railway Co. (CN) reported a 34-percent second-quarter profit increase as a result of a rebound in the Canadian grain crop, tight cost controls and the acquisition of two new railway lines in 2004. As per Hunter Harrison, CEO and president of CN, the profit was much more than he had expected.
