Can Abbott be repaired?

Article Abstract:

Australian Health Minister, Tony Abbott broke a core election promise, when Australian Prime Minister, John Howard announced that Medicare safety net thresholds would be raised, thereby reducing the number of people who would benefit. But Abbott should be blamed alone, since Prime Minister Howard and treasurer Peter Costello were aware before the election that the safety net would almost certainly have to be reined in, but gave no indication of that to voters or apparently, to Abbott.

The failure of the MPs to show the same diligence, independence and moral courage in other issues and thanking the Prime Minister for allowing the conscience vote undermines respect for parliament.
