AT&T board doesn't make any decision on cable unit

AT&T's board of directors have discussed almost five different choices for selling or divesting the telecommunication concern's cable television unit but have not yet reached a decision. Other companies, like AOL Time Warner and the Comcast Corp., have exressed interest in acquiring the unit.

Chief of big cable provider to step down at year-end; Charter's stock slides on unexpected news

Chief executive Jerald L. Kent announced that he will leave Charter Communications Inc. at the year's end, but declined to give a reason for his departure. Kent's contract expres Dec. 23, but would have been automatically extended, the firm said. Industry insiders say that Carl E. Vogel is the likely front-runner to succeed Mr. Kent.
