Covad CEO 'not afraid to boldly direct'
Article Abstract:
Covad CEO Robert Knowling is described as one of the strongest and most dynamic leaders in the telecommunications industry. Covad provides digital line subscriber lines to 96 US communities that are said to be 25 times faster than dial-up services. Knowling's success can be understood by knowing his past as an underpriviledged boy who grew up performing odd jobs to help support his 12 brothers and sisters. His career in the telecommunications industry started in Indiana Bell, where he was involved in operations, marketing and engineering.
