David, a Goliath
Article Abstract:
Cricket historians look back in awe at the meteoric rise of star cricketer David William Hookes and talk fondly of how the charismatic batsman took apart Englishman Tony Greig who he belted for five successive fours in an over. The spontaneous cricketer carried his on-field persona off field and when hosting a sports show on television did not ingratiate himself with other sports people. As Victoria's coach he molded a bunch of individuals into a cohesive team capable of taking on the best in Australia.
