Days of glory
Article Abstract:
The Commonwealth Games were born of peculiar ideals where the men behind these games frowned on the idea of women competing in sports and only white men were allowed, but in 1930 when the world economy was in depression, male athletes were stimulated and lavished with money to compete and women athletes were permitted only in swimming events. The games are presently opened every four years with civilizing niceties, supported by huge crowds with both men and women competing in different sports from many countries.
