CEO reboots Compaq spirit

In a satellite broadcast to Compaq's global units, Capellas reiterated the need to reestablish the operation of the company, which is currently suffering from competition. The executive is seen to be staging a turnaround for Compaq, after the firm accumulated losses of $3 billion.

Dell meets earnings forecast, but sales outlook uncertain
Article Abstract:
Dell Computer registered a net income of $462 million, or 17 cents per share, for 1st qtr 2001, 1% down from its net income during the same quarter in 2000. Robust sales of corporate servers helped boost Dell's revenues to $8 billion, up by 10% from the year-ago period. During the same quarter, Dell became the world's largest maker of PCs, surpassing Compaq. However, its stock fell by $1 to $24.88 per share during after- hours trading on May 17, 2001.
