Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp. has announced its new Internet strategy. Microsoft, which has named the Internet strategy Microsoft.net, will allow online consumers to access its services and software on the Internet in an attempt to compete more effectively against rivals Hewlett-Packard Co. and Oracle Corp.

Web sales stunted by security fears: survey

A new survey on Internet security issues has found that a large majority of online users are concerned over personal information privacy. The survey, which was conducted by Toronto, Ont.-based Angus Reid Group, revealed that 84% of 1,125 Web users were worried about providing personal data to e-commerce firms.
