Article Abstract:
Toll roads are increasingly encircling the major cities of Australia, creating widespread discontent as users charges soar, alternative routes get chocked off and electronic tags become mandatory. Sydney's M4 which shoots motorists from stressful traffic jams along Parramatta Road 40km west to the Blue Mountains, is set to be given back to the state in four years, by 2010, and will be the first private road in Australia to be given back to the people.
