Another shareholder backs deal to buy Scott's

Hamblin Watsa Investment Counsel Ltd, another major shareholder of Scott's Restaurants Inc, will vote in favor of the proposed takeover of Scott's by SR Acquisition Corp. Markham, Ontario, Canada-based Scott's, a restaurant chain that runs highway service sites and 338 KFC stores, is planned to be acquired by SR Acquisition for nearly C$200 million. The deal, which has received support from Scott's board of directors and its controlling shareholder, Fairwater Capital Corp, still requires the approval of Scott's shareholders.

Cambridge scoops up Laing's mall properties
Article Abstract:
Toronto, Canada-based Cambridge Shopping Centres Ltd has agreed to purchase Laing Property Corp for an undisclosed price. An industry observer estimated the purchase price of the deal, which comprises 3.5 million sq ft of leasable properties, between C$500 million and C$600 million. However, Cambridge plans to keep the Guildford Town Centre and Mayfair Shopping Centre, in Surrey and Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, respectively, and divest Laing's six remaining mall properties.
