Royal LePage acquires HFS Mobility

Royal LePage Ltd., a Toronto, Ontario-based provider of real estate brokerage and related services, has acquired HFS Mobility Services Canada for an undisclosed amount from Cendant Mobility Services Corp. of Danbury, CT. Simon Dean, Royal LePage's president of residential, said the acquisition of HFS Mobility will be financed by the cash Royal LePage received from the 30% stake in Brookfield Management Services Ltd. that was sold in September 1998. The deal, which is scheduled to be completed on Oct. 7, 1998, is expected to boost the Royal LePage's hold in the contracted business market to approximately 60%.

Extendicare selling pharmacy operations
Article Abstract:
Extendicare Inc. of Markham, Ontario, in Canada, has agreed to sell its pharmacy operations to Omnicare Inc. of Covington, KY, for over $250 million cash and stock and warrants. In addition to the cash, Omnicare, the largest provider of pharmacy and related services to long-term care institutions in the US, will pay Extendicare with 125,000 Omnicare shares as well as warrants to acquire 1.5 million shares of the pharmacy unit. Extendicare considers its pharmacy operations as non-strategic assets requiring funds that the company would rather invest into its core businesses.
