Tire replacement effort `going to hit a wall soon'
Article Abstract:
Ford Motor Co and Bridgestone/Firestone are trying to cope with the millions of recalled Firestone tires in the US but its pace is expected to slow down before it resumes in late September. To make tires more available, Ford has certified 30 other tire brands that can replace the Firestone ATX, ATX II and Wilderness AT tires that have been recalled. Ford is also diverting tire from new Explorers and Ranger pickups while other tire companies are increasing production.

Tire exec to testify; Ford CEO declines
Article Abstract:
Bridgestone/Firestone CEO Masatoshi Ono has agreed to testify before Congress about the recall of its tires, most of which are mounted on Ford's sport-utility vehicle Explorer. Ford CEO Jacques Nasser has, however, declined to appear before the legislative body. Instead, Nasser is sending Helen Petrauskas and Tom Baughman, two executives who were involved in Ford's handling of the recall.
