GM chief-to-be planning more cross-marketing
Article Abstract:
General Motors Corp CEO-designate G. Richard Wagoner Jr plans to use the auto company's huge customer database to market a variety of services. He believes that cross-marketing can easily be implemented by GM having a computer system that is able to track whether a customer for one service has used other services. Wagoner is confident that this marketing strategy, which he labeled as 'one company' focus, will increase sales of the auto company.

GM settles argument with dealerships
Article Abstract:
General Motors Corp (GM) has announced the settlement of a disagreement with its dealerships after 14 months of negotiations. The disagreement stemmed from GM's plan to introduce factory-owned dealerships and sell directly to consumers over the Internet, a move that was frowned upon by the car manufacturer's existing dealerships. Under the agreement with its dealers, GM has agreed not to buy dealerships nor sell cars directly to consumers through its Web site.

Ford dealers fight customer-satisfaction reward plans
Article Abstract:
Ford Motor Co's Blue Oval certification program will give an unfair vehicle pricing advantage to some of its dealers, according to a number of Ford dealers as well as licensing officials in Texas. Ford dealers, especially those who do not wish to participate, said that meeting all the requirements of the Blue Oval program is costly but not being a member will hurt them financially.
