Franchisor's cookie empire crumbles

Montreal, Quebec-based Monsieur Felix & Mr. Norton Cookies Inc., a 35-outlet gourmet-shop chain, was purchased by Montreal, Quebec-based Sweet Factory Canada Inc., a franchisor of confectionery stores. Sweet Factory Canada disclosed plans to have its 55 outlets of Sweet Factory candy shops co-branded with Monsieur Felix & Mr. Norton Cookies' cookie stores. The move is aimed at establishing retailing ties with related operations in an effort to survive in the business.

Philip Services alters managers' rank again
Article Abstract:
Troubled scrap metal and industrial waste giant Philip Services Co of Hamilton, Ontario, has announced a restructuring of its current management structure. The company said that it will eliminate the post of industrial services group president and downsize the six-unit group into four consisting of specialized businesses, Western region, Eastern region and byproducts management. The industrial services group accounts for 65% of Philip's total sales.
