SBC to disclose series of steps to raise profile in cyberspace

SBC Communications Inc. will announce partnerships with Commerce One Inc., Deloitte Consulting and Proxicom. SBC plans to spend $50 mil on an Internet hosting center in Dallas, using equipment supplied by Cisco Systems Inc. SBC has also bought a controlling stake in InQuent Technologies, Toronto, which operates WebHosting .com. The company faces competition from data telecom providers such as WorldCom Inc. and Quest Communications International Inc.
