HP-Compaq merger not seen as threat by IBM unit

The proposed merger between Houston, Texas-based Compaq Computer Corp. and Palo Alto, Calif.-based Hewlett-Packard Co. will not threaten the market share of Armonk, NY-based International Business Machines Corp. Austin, Texas-based Tivoli Systems Inc., which is a unit of IBM, said that the merger would not be able to replace the broad range of products and services offered by IBM.

Kodak bid expected to quell dissident Creo investors
Article Abstract:
Eastman Kodak Co.'s bid for Creo Inc. for 980 million dollars is expected to silence dissident shareholders who were pushing to shake up the company and find a buyer. Kodak, which targeted Creo for its leading computer-to-plate technology that eliminates the need for film in the imaging of printing plates, is expected to lay off upto 40 percent of Creo's work force.
