Inco shares dip as Voisey's Bay talks break off

Toronto, Ont.-based Inco Ltd. has ended negotiations with government officials in Newfoundland over a proposed $1 billion nickel mining operation. Inco, which lost share value upon news of the decision, acquired the Voisey's Bay deposit in 1995.

Inco gets environmental panel's blessing on Voisey's Bay project
Article Abstract:
Inco Ltd has received approval from an environmental review panel to proceed with its C$1.1 billion nickel and copper project in Voisey's Bay. The project, however, will still need the approval of the federal and provincial governments as well as the aboriginal groups involved. The mine site on the east coast of Labrador is expected to generate 570 jobs during construction, 420 jobs during open-pit mining and 950 jobs in the underground phase of mining.
