India's new government, led by the Congress party, is planning to maintain economic growth at 7 to 8 per cent a year while refocusing efforts on developing the country's rural and agricultural sectors. The government also states that it would scale back the privatization program promoted by the previous government, led by Bharatiya Janata Party.
