Recall likely to widen abroad
Article Abstract:
Bridgestone/Firestone is expected to announce a recall of defective tires in Venezuela, which are used on GM, Ford and Toyota sport-utility vehicles. The tires were made from Bridgestone's plant in Valencia, Venezuela, whose recall resulted from the discovery of quality-control problems by Ford. Bridgestone is already recalling tires sold in Venezuela but were manufactured at its facility in Decatur, IL. These are part of the 6.5 million ATX, ATX II and Wilderness AT tires recalled starting Aug 9, 2000.
