Investors may find profit in tire recall
Article Abstract:
Wall Street stock market observers say that investors can exploit Bridgestone/Firestone's and Ford Motor Co's joint tire recall program. A Wall Street analyst says the stock of both firms appear to be excellent buying opportunities because of considerable investor over-reaction. Morgan Stanley Dean Witter estimated that Bridgestone/Firestone's stock value should have declined by less than $1, but has declined by more than $8 since Jul 31, 2000. Analysts say that Ford, on the other hand, will do anything to protect its Explorer brand, which uses the tires being recalled.

$29,950 soon can buy you a 'Baby Jag'
Article Abstract:
Jaguar North America announces that its new X-Type, referred to as Baby Jag, will be available for $29,950, which about $5,000 less than dealers and analysts projected the entry level car would cost. With a price below $30,000, the Baby Jag could be a big competition for BMW's 3 Series, Mercedes C Class, Audi A4, as well as Cadillac's Catera. The car will be available in two models, namely a 2.5-l, 194-hp V-6, and 3.0-l, 231-hp V- 6. Jaguar hopes worldwide sales of 10,000 X-Types, which will be available in Jun and Aug 2001 in the UK and the US, respectively.
