Kid's chalk, clay, sand tested for asbestos
Article Abstract:
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that they will conduct tests of chalk, modeling clay and sand used in playgrounds to ensure that they do not contain asbestos or other fibers that cause cancer. The CPSC reported on June 13, 2000 that it had discovered minute amounts of asbestos and bigger amounts of "transitional fibers" in crayons. Since transitional fibers are considered cancer-causing substances, the top three crayon manufacturers said they will reformulate their products.

Is Explorer part of the problem?
Article Abstract:
Reports that Ford Motor's Explorer sport-utility vehicle has the tendency to roll over and that it has vibration and suspension problems have resulted in suspicions that it is partly responsible to the fatal accidents that have resulted in the recall of 6.5 million Firestone brand light-truck tires. Ford maintains that the tire separation incidents are strictly a tire problem and not a vehicle problem.
