Buyers still want homes of their own
Article Abstract:
Home buyers are eager to take advantage of low mortgage rates and near- record employment despite the slowing US economy. New home sales dropped 2.4% in Feb 2001 from Jan 2001. While the pace of buying slowed, consumers were still snapping up houses at what would be a 911,000 annual rate, a level that rials 1999 records. Similarly, although home resales fell 0.4% in Feb 2001, the figure shows that in the first 2 months of the year, consumers were buying houses at an annual rate of 5.19 million units.
