Machine shops diligently looking for a few skilled workers
Article Abstract:
Machine shops are finding it harder to find skilled workers even though machinists and tool and die makers rank among those who have a high salary rate. Although most machine shops in the country cannot afford intensive recruiting or training programs, efforts are being made to address the shortage of skilled machine shop workers. These efforts include participating in high school jop fairs and career days and helping apprentices earn two-year degees.
