Man Who Shot Reagan Allowed To Visit Parents Unsupervised
Article Abstract:
Federal District Court for the District of Columbia Judge Paul L. Friedman granted John W. Hinckley Jr. the right to have unsupervised day visits with his parents within a 50-mile radius of Washington, D.C. Hinckley attempted to assassinate former Pres. Ronald Reagan in 1981 as a way of impressing actress Jodie Foster. This is a first step towards allowing Hinckley to have overnight visits in the future. Both Nancy Reagan and Sarah Brady, wife of shooting victim and former Reagan press secretary James Brady, objected to the judge's ruling.
