Many rental-car firms mislead on prepay gas
Article Abstract:
A survey of 58 rental-car employees at 12 airports revealed that most are misleading customers about the price advantage of prepaying for a tank of gas. The offer enables car renters to return a car without filling it up by prebuying a tank of gas at a per-ballon price determined by the firm. Despite allegations that their prices are lower than those offered by gas stations outside the airports, it was found that prices were actually lower in gas stations than in the rental-car firms.

The analysis, conducted on 189 model 2000 vehicles, placed 17 SUVs among the top 20 motor vehicles that are most likely to roll over during an accident. The analysis is based on a mathematical formula that considers such factors as vehicle width, weight and height.
