Media titans buy stake in firm pushing broadband network
Article Abstract:
Walt Disney Co, Intel and GE Capital are among the companies investing $60 million for an undisclosed minority stake at Palo Alto-based Dotcast, which claims that it can help TV stations transmit high-speed data through their existing analog network. The data are sent at 4.5 megabits per second, which is faster than digital subscriber lines and cable modems. Dotcast Pres Richard Selvage says the capital infusion will help the company deploy a national broadband network across the US.
