Patricia Dunn is the CEO of San Francisco-based Barclays Global Investors, the world's biggest manager of index mutual funds. The company manages more than $780 billion in assets for 20 million individual investors, mostly in employer-sponsored pension and 401(k) plans. She rose from a temporary secretary when she joined Barclays to become one of Fortune magazine's 50 most powerful businesswomen in the US. Colleagues describe her as a bright and confident executive who delegates a lot of tasks to her subordinates.

DeSio is described as a serial entrepreneur, someone who organizes a series of successful businesses. DeSio formed Mail Boxes Etc while in semi-retirement in 1979.
