Justice lambastes Microsoft proposal
Article Abstract:
Microsoft Corp's counter-proposal for its proposed breakup has met harsh criticisms from the US Justice Dept. The agency has labeled the software company's assertions as both 'backward-looking' and 'narrow.' Microsoft had earlier cited the proposal to split the company into two separate operations as a move that will virtually destroy the company without guaranteeing the existence of competition in PC operating systems.

Judges ask tough questions during Microsoft case
Article Abstract:
Microsoft Corp's appeal of its antitrust case received a round of pointed questionings on Feb 26, 2001, from the seven-judge panel that will decide on the matter. The US Court of Appeals, which is expected to take several months before making its decision, were skeptical of both sides during the proceedings. Microsoft, which lost in the lower courts in Jun 2000, is petitioning the higher court to overrule the decision by Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson.
