Molson buys back U.S. brands

Molson Inc. will repurchase from FostersBewing Group Ltd. and Miller Brewing Co. all Molson brands in the U.S. because while the U.S. beer market grew 11 percent over five years, Molson's sales volume dived. It is looking for a national distributor-partner in the U.S. Meanwhile it has agreed with Fosters Brewing Group Ltd. to produce and market Foster's in Canada and export Foster's to the U.S.

SABMiller mulls hostile bid to break Molson-Coors deal

SABMiller PLC, London-based beer giant, is in talks with Ian Molson and Onex Corp. that could lead to a rival, hostile bid for Molson Inc, 218-year old brewery. SABMiller decided to take another look at Molson Inc. after chief executive Dan O'Neill acknowledged that he might not have enough shareholder votes to complete Molson's proposed merger with Adolph Coors. Co.
