Money laundering watchdog should have more of a bite

The efficacy of Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre (Fintrac), a Canadian body formed to trace money laundering and prevent terrorism financing, is examined. Despite receiving innumerable reports from banking industry, Fintrac has failed to identify adequate number of suspects to justify its functions.

Technology Partnerships Canada (TPC) gave $115 million from the corporate welfare scheme to Bell Helicopter Textron Canada, without seeking the approval of the Treasury Board. The irregularities involved in the transfer of funds from TPC are described.
