Music companies' venture with IBM fights Net piracy
Article Abstract:
Five music companies and IBM are developing a system that allows the downloading of CD-quality albums in a secure format over the Internet. The system, which protects the artists' copyrights, is being developed as a response to music piracy on the Internet. The five music companies involved in the project include BMG Entertainment, EMI and Sony Music. The six companies are hoping that the demonstration, which will be made on Feb 8, 1999, will be successful so that consumers can have access to the system later this year.

The shows go on for Century, National Amusements
Article Abstract:
Natonal Amusements Inc and Century Theaters are among the few movie theater chains that have manage to survive difficult times that continue to hit the industry. Since Sep 1999 to Oct 2000, six of the nation's largest theater chains have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy court protection. Unlike the troubled chains, Century moves to a market only if it could be the number one or two theater with movigoers.
