Mutual Threat Unites 2 Rivals Opposing Dean
Article Abstract:
Democratic presidential candidates Richard Gephardt and John Kerry have been appearing more as allies than competitors for the 2004 presidential nomination as they coordinate efforts to undermine leading candidate Howard Dean. The Gephardt and Kerry campaign organizations deny there is any underhanded effort to reduce Dean's popularity, but they are concerned about their political survival if Dean wins the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries. The most evident strategy has revolved around jpint-attacks against Dean's tax-cut and Medicare policies so that voters will perceive that Dean is wrong on both issues.

Left at the Altar, Missouri Seeks New Groom at the Last Minute
Article Abstract:
Seven Democratic presidential primaries will occur Feb. 3 and front-runner John Kerry is expected to win Missouri's prized 74 delegates. The primary schedule in early 2004 has made it difficult for the candidates to spend time in the state. Television advertising, mailings and Internet communications are crucial to informing voters about candidates' political strengths.
