Netscape: changes paying off
Article Abstract:
Netscape Communications surprised Wall Street on May 26, 1998 when it broke even during its second quarter partly due to an eight cent-a-share gain from the sale of its securities. The firm which currently faces pressure from Microsoft, listed $127.2 million in revenue for the second quarter up from $125.3 million for the quarter ended December 1997. January 1998 results by Netscape reflected a loss of $54.2 million and were reported separately since the firm changed its fiscal year. Netscape CEO James Barksdale attributes the improved performance to changes that exploited the growing digital economy.

Novell of Provo, UT, is once again a profitable company due to the efforts of its new CEO Eric Schmidt. The company, which was one of the most revered software companies in the world, had suffered several financial and marketing setbacks in the past few years due to mismanagement. However, due to the initiatives taken and instituted by Schmidt, Novell has gained back its footing in the computer industry. U.S., Vietnam strike trade agreement
Article Abstract:
The US and Vietnam have reached a landmark trade agreement that should open Vietnam to US investors. If approved by both governments, the accord will represent an important milestone in US-Vietnam relations almost 24 years after the end of the Vietnam War. Vietnam, one of the world's poorest nations, is a potentially lucrative market, with more than half of its 80 million population under the age of 25.
