Newbridge lands two major contracts with wireless firms

Newbridge Networks Corp. has secured two major contracts worth around C$600 million, from MaxLink Communications Inc. of Montreal, Canada, and WIC Connexus. The contracts from two of the biggest wireless broadband firms in Canada will span four years and involve the emerging North American high-speed wireless market. The contracts are also the first for the market and boosts Newbridge's chances of securing the same deals in the US. The wireless networks called LCMS for Local Multipoint Communications Systems, are being promoted as the electronic highway's third lane.
