Mick Davis, the London-based boss of the South African-controlled but Swiss-registered group, Xstrata Queensland coal and base metals producer MIM Holdings, has set his sights on Australia's second largest uranium mining house WMC Resources. The reason for the bid is attributed to the soaring demand for nuclear energy that would arise in a world poised to be transformed by the impending ratification of the Kyoto protocol on greenhouse gas emissions.
